About Thatch Artisans
Two decades of craftsmanship, one standard of excellence.
The Story of Thatch Artisans
Where Craftsmanship Meets Art
Where It All Began
The story of Thatch Artisans began in 2008, during my school holidays, when I first entered the world of thatching. What started as holiday work quickly became a passion and, over time, a vision for something much bigger.
After completing my studies, I decided to turn that passion into a business. In 2013, Thatch Artisans was established with a simple but powerful vision: to honour the skilled artisans behind the work and to celebrate the craftsmanship that goes into every project.
The name Thatch Artisans was chosen with purpose. At the heart of "Artisans" is the word "art" — a reflection of how we view thatching. To us, thatching is not simply a construction trade. It is an art form.
It takes skill, experience, patience and pride to transform natural materials into a roof that is both functional and beautiful. Behind every finished project are the hands and knowledge of artisans who take pride in their craft. We believe those people deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
From a Sketch to Reality
One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is seeing an idea become reality.
Every project starts with a vision — often nothing more than a sketch on paper. From that first drawing, we begin the process of planning, shaping and building. Slowly, piece by piece, the structure takes form until the original sketch is standing in front of us.
That moment is what continues to inspire us. There is an immense sense of pride in seeing something that existed only as an idea come to life through the skill and dedication of our team. It is a reminder that great craftsmanship can turn imagination into something real and lasting.
Quality Is Our Foundation
Since the beginning, our commitment has remained the same: quality workmanship, quality materials and no cutting corners.
We believe that true quality is found in the details. A beautiful roof means little if it is not built properly. That is why we approach every project with care, precision and respect for the craft.
Whether we are creating a traditional thatched roof or tackling a completely unique architectural concept, our aim is always to deliver work that we can stand behind with pride.
Pushing the Boundaries of Thatching
We believe the future of thatching is not only about preserving a traditional craft, but also about discovering what is possible.
We welcome challenging projects and designs that have never been attempted before. Our ambition is to push the boundaries of thatch, combining traditional craftsmanship with creativity and innovative thinking.
For us, the question is not simply, "How has it always been done?" It is also, "What could we do that has never been done before?"
Building a Legacy
Our vision extends far beyond the projects we build today. We want to build Thatch Artisans into a business that will stand for generations — a company that continues to create opportunities for artisans, develops exceptional craftsmanship and leaves behind a legacy of work that future generations can be proud of.
Our long-term ambition is to establish Thatch Artisans as one of the leading names in the thatching industry, both locally and internationally. We want our name to represent trust, creativity, craftsmanship and uncompromising quality.
Because ultimately, we don't just build thatched roofs. We bring sketches to life. We honour the hands that build them. And we are building a legacy that will last.
